NY Attorney General’s Foreclosure Investigation Widens

NYCC’s capital region blog has some new developments in NY State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s investigation into possible foreclosure fraud. From the blog:

NY State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman issued subpoenas this morning against two firms for their questionable handling of mortgage foreclosures for such banks as Wells Fargo and NYCC favorite JP Morgan Chase. There’s a new Sheriff in town, and we at NYCC could not be happier.

Anyone who’s watched this “industry” develop knows the shenanigans pulled by many of these “default industry” players: Misfiled paperwork, foreclosing on properties not in distress, and pretty much giving working families the runaround should they find themselves behind on their mortgage and in need of a workout or modification. So we’re happy beyond belief that AG Schneiderman’s stepped into the breach and taken a stand we’ve long worked for: Keeping our communities strong and our families in their homes.
